A credible hire-an-agent option for a funded solo founder — use the published startup tier and avoid the quote-only track.

True solo cost — low volume$250/mo — Intern billed annually (10,000 credits/mo) for about 500 prospects/mo, assuming roughly 20 credits per person for an email campaign without phone enrichment, as the vendor's own estimate states
True solo cost — typical volume$1,000/mo — Employee at the 42,000-credit tier billed annually for about 2,000 prospects/mo at roughly 20 credits per lead; the base Employee tier (25,000 credits, about 1,250 leads) is not enough at this volume

What Artisan AI is — in our words

Artisan's Ava is an outbound AI BDR, not inbound lead capture. Given your ideal customer profile, Ava searches a large B2B contact database, enriches prospects, writes one-to-one style email outreach, manages the sending infrastructure around it — warm-up, mailbox health and deliverability controls — handles replies and objections, and books meetings onto a rep's calendar, with an autonomy dial and approval guardrails so a founder can review before full autopilot. Website-visitor and signal features can also flag companies showing intent and trigger outreach. This is the closest pattern to hiring a junior SDR as software, and since its 2026 relaunch it is finally buyable without an enterprise sales cycle at the small end: a free tier for list building and published credit-based startup plans. Read the pricing page carefully, though, because it runs two tracks at once. The Startups tab publishes real prices metered in credits, where a full email campaign costs roughly twenty credits per person contacted. The default Businesses and Enterprises tab — Team, Scale and Enterprise — publishes no price at all and routes you to a demo and a quote. Mailboxes and phone infrastructure can be billed separately, and the human power dialer is an extra per-seat charge, so confirm what a campaign actually consumes before committing annually.

What it does end-to-end

  • Find and enrich prospects from a built-in B2B database
  • Write, send and follow up personalised outbound email autonomously
  • Handle replies and objections and book meetings to your calendar
  • Manage warm-up and deliverability infrastructure for its sending
  • Offer approval and tone guardrails before full autonomy

What it does NOT do

  • Publish prices for its Team, Scale and Enterprise plans — those are quote only
  • Include the human power dialer; it is an extra per-seat charge
  • Make credit consumption obvious in advance; a campaign costs roughly 20 credits per lead
  • Fit founders who want to personally write and control every message

Pros — our take

  • Truly autonomous prospect-to-meeting workflow with guardrails
  • Self-serve startup pricing now exists below the quote-only tiers
  • Deliverability and warm-up are handled inside the product

Cons — our take

  • Default business pricing is still opaque and demo-gated
  • Credit maths, not lead counts, decide what a plan really covers
  • Paid startup plans are billed annually with credits upfront

Other find & chase leads agents

One database, sequencer and dialer for a founder who wants outbound without stitching tools together

The most complete solo outbound starter — as long as you accept that you are the SDR and Apollo is the engine, not the rep.

True solo cost (typical)$49/mo — same Basic seat covers roughly 2,000 email prospects/mo within the annual credit pool; stepping to Professional at $79/mo is about workflow and dialer features, not prospect volume, assuming mobiles are used sparingly

Flat-fee cold email sending with unlimited mailboxes, plus a lead database sold on credits

Excellent value if cold email is your channel — budget for the bundle, not the $47 headline, plus domains and mailboxes.

True solo cost (typical)$194/mo — Scale bundle (Hypergrowth sending plus 5,000 credits/mo and 25,000 uploaded contacts) for about 2,000 prospects/mo, because the Starter credit and contact caps run out first

Multichannel sequences across email, LinkedIn and calls, with warm-up and a built-in lead database

The best pick here if LinkedIn belongs in your sequence — just price the plan plus data credits together, not the headline alone.

True solo cost (typical)$109/mo — Multichannel for 1 user for about 2,000 prospects/mo when LinkedIn steps are part of the sequence, plus data credits on top; email-only at this volume stays on the $69 Email plan before credits
