What Motion is — in our words

Motion owns the scheduling optimisation slice at its most assertive. It combines tasks, projects, deadlines and meetings in one system and auto-schedules everything into your calendar, re-planning in real time when a meeting overruns, a deadline moves, or you add something urgent. On top of that autopilot it layers an AI meeting notetaker, AI chat and docs, so it reaches further toward a work platform than Reclaim or a daily planner does. For a solo founder juggling client delivery and admin, that single system can replace a separate task manager and calendar tool. The catch is commitment and price presentation. The headline figure most blogs quote is the team per-seat annual rate, not what one person pays on the Individuals tab, which is materially higher, and AI features draw on a monthly credit allowance. Motion also demands buy-in: it works best when all your tasks live in Motion and you let it move them, which feels liberating to some founders and controlling to others. It does not triage your email inbox for you. If you want a planner that decides for you rather than one you steer manually, Motion is the strongest option here, at a premium solo price.

What it does end-to-end

  • Auto-schedules tasks and projects and re-plans the day automatically
  • Combines calendar, task and project management in one system
  • Records meetings with an AI notetaker and creates follow-up tasks
  • Warns when deadlines are at risk based on available time

What it does NOT do

  • Does not triage or reply to email as an inbox assistant
  • No free plan — trial only
  • Does not leave scheduling decisions fully manual if you use autopilot

Pricing — checked 2026-11-04

Individuals vs Teams pricing differ — do not use the team headline for a solo budget. Team per-seat annual rates are $19 (Pro AI) and $29 (Business AI). AI use is metered at 7,500 credits/mo on Pro AI, 15,000 on Business AI.

Pros — our take

  • Most complete auto-scheduling plus projects, docs and notetaker in one tool
  • Constant re-planning suits chaotic founder days
  • Replaces several separate productivity subscriptions

Cons — our take

  • Solo price is much higher than the $19 team headline blogs quote
  • AI credits meter chat and notetaker use, with overage charges
  • All-in approach is a steep switch if you like your current task system
